April 2018 Newsletter

Greetings from your President,
Spring is trying to get here. As I write this Easter has just past, there is still snow in the foot hills, and the trees are blossoming out.  What a weather year it has been already.
We had our post banquet committee meeting. Thank you to all who attended. It was determined that we did a lot of things well.  But we still have room for improvement. If you saw something that we did well or something that we need to improve on please let us know. Either give one of our board members a call or send us an email. The contact information is on the last page of the newsletter.
This is another reminder. It is about time to get your controlled hunt applications sent in. The controlled hunt application deadline is May 15th. Do not wait until the deadline.
Duane Bernard sent me an email. He is suggesting that all members of our hunting community be made aware of the Elk Hoof Disease.  (See article on page 5 of April 2018 Newsletter)
There are several ballot measure petitions that want to take away your guns floating around getting signatures. You and I will have to work very hard to make sure that if these measures do make it on the ballot that we vote them down. This will affect everyone who owns and loves their guns. We need to make sure that we query our elected officials and all who are running for election to make sure that they will protect our second amendment rights. If they will not protect our gun rights, then vote them out. Period!!!
Our annual elections of officers and board members will be at our May 14, 2018 meeting. If you are interested in being a board member please attend our April 9, 2018 meeting and let us know so that we can get you name on a ballot. The positions up for election are President (Frank E. Hupp) and Secretary (Jordan Hicks); and the board positions currently held by Eric Strand, Matt Owens, Brandon Haflich and Steve Copple. Francis Brownell will be in charge of the elections.

I hope and pray that you have a great year.

Frank E. Hupp, DTM, President, Columbia County Chapter OHA
