March 2018 Newsletter – Great Banquet!

Greetings from your President,

WOW!!! Did we have a banquet or not. It was a record breaker for us. We planned for 300 attendees and had over 320. We had nearly 50 kids pre-registered. For the first time ever we sold out all of the Les Schwab gun raffle tickets. We also had the opportunity to auction the State Wide Access & Habitat elk tag. The tag sold for $45,000. That was not a OHA record, but it was pretty darn good. Thank you to all who made it happen. Especially thank you to Gene Chouinard who made sure that our paperwork was in order.  Again, thank you to all of the volunteers that made this a great event. Without you we would not have been successful.

We have scheduled a post-banquet meeting. We will discuss what went well and any potential improvements that we can make.  The meeting will be held at Sunshine Pizza in St. Helens on Thursday March 15th at 7:00 p.m  It is about time to get your controlled hunt applications sent in. The controlled hunt application deadline is May 15th. Do not wait until the deadline. My brother and I have been discussing potential hunts now for several months. We have it pretty much nailed down.

Have you picked up your game regulations yet? They have been reformatted and reorganized. On page 17 there is a map of the states that have been affected by CWD (chronic wasting disease). Check the map before you apply for hunts in these states. There are quite a few changes in the game regulations. They are highlighted in yellow.

We will have our annual elections of officers and board members at our May 14, 2018 meeting. If you are interested in being a board member please attend our April 9, 2018 meeting and let us know so that we can get you name on a ballot.
